BS AU 145e - A new standard for UK number plates
From September 2021 a new number plate standard became mandatory in the UK. The British Standard on number plates is already tough. The new rules now make the UK number plate standard one of the strictest in Europe.
If you’d like a compliant set of plates please contact us for advice and service.
As a number plate supplier, we are closely associated with the British Number Plate Manufacturers Association (BNMA). So, you can be assured that any number plates or equipment we supply will meet or exceed the new standard.
ANPR cameras are driving the change because more than 1 million plates are estimated to be misread every single day*. So, it’s important that number plates comply with the new standard.
We have been supplying 145e compliant plates since September. Compliance for the new plates includes new, highly specific and scientific tests on Abrasion and Near Infrared Contrast. Other key changes include.
On top of the Abrasion & Contrast tests, ten other unique tests will be carried out on plates to ensure plates comply
- 100% black digits are now mandatory
- One type of plate fastening is now recommended (BS AU 145e adhesive pads)
